Drinking water is precious commodity. Every effort should be made to avoid wastage of drinking water. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has implemented scheme to recycle filter backwash water from 450 MLD capacity water treatment plant at Bhokarpada. 10000 cum water is being recycled daily. Recycled water is satisfying domestic water requirement of 74000 persons. The cost of the recycling projects is Rs 7 crores. NMMC is earning additional revenue of Rs 2.56 crores per year from the scheme. The rate of return on investment is 36.50% per year. The entire investment will be recovered within 3 years
